Oh wow! This is stunning. I wish we'd had a ship lift when we launched One & All back in 1985... she lid down the slip on her cradle and the cradle stuck in the sand with the ship still on it! (She eventually floated free thanks to the determined efforts of a volunteer tractor driver who drove his vehicle into the shallows and pushed the cradle further into the cove...until the ship floated free... finally!) The footage of Valkyrie is simply stunning, and she looks magnificent being rowed out into the sound. What a sight! (I noticed her little clinker built attendant on the water near her in the final shots, too. Lovely.) xxx Kerry

We feel you! We're both in Oregon, so it's a bit far away. We hope to get up there at some point and see her wherever she ends up living permanently.

Wow! Wish I could be there to see it in person. Is she based on Gokstad or any other particular excavated ship? - Kerry

Hi Kerry! Yes, me too. It's about a 4-1/2 hour drive from where I live so not sure if I'm going to make it for the Deception Pass route, but will definitely be coordinating with the builder to see it at some point. I don't know if he specifically based it on the Gokstad. It's slightly smaller in length at 60 feet. Hopefully we'll find out when we get him on the podcast! Stay tuned :)
